Blue Balls sign Stewart Copeland!

“Rock and Goal!” kicks off with an arresting drummer defender!

And so it begins! The first official player of Dan’s BandCampaign Podcast’s “Rock and Goal!” has been selected.

The inaugural guest of the show, Californian based singer/songwriter Radio Nowhere was able to sign The Police’s Stewart Copeland to fulfill one of the central defender/drummer positions for The Blue Balls.

Blue Ball fans are already praising the signing, stating that Copeland’s no holds barred attitude and his precise technique will set the tone for the rest of the team.

“He’ll be the one that calls the shots from the back for sure.” said one loyal Blue Ball fan, Roxanne. “What better defence could you have than to have a member of The Police to take control! Just let those Red Balls try to score. Every move they make, every shot they take, Stewart will be watching them!”

At his unveiling, Copeland looked focused but expressed enthusiasm and an eagerness to show fans that the Blue Balls were the real deal.

“I’m really honoured to be the first player to be selected for such a prestigious tournament. I’m walking on the moon right now! I’m here to do well and to see the team win. I can’t, I can’t, I can’t stand losing!”

Copeland also stated his tactics were to stick to his opposition attackers like glue, giving them no space to strike.

“I’ll be right in their pockets! They’ll have no room to move. No striker likes me standing so close to them!”

The Blue Balls will add another member in June 2015.

Radio Nowhere sounds like:

Dan’s Notes:
I was thrilled to have Californian based singer/songwriter* Radio Nowhere (aka Mike Baker) as my first guest on the podcast. He was one of the first artists I discovered when I first came across in around 2009/2010, so it seemed fitting that he kick the show off.

Over the course of the interview, I found out about his childhood musical awakening, that pretending to be a cow can be quite rewarding, that being held up at gunpoint in Mexico can make for a great song and that wives can be your harshest critic (actually, I already knew that one!).

Artist Bio:
Singer/songwriter: for most people, the term still brings to mind the sound of one voice and a fingerpicked guitar, or a quiet piano, sketching a monochromatic study of one individual’s emotional landscape. Mike Baker, who performs and records as the Northern California alternative pop/rock act Radio Nowhere, is not that kind of singer/songwriter.

Possessed by kaleidoscopic musical visions and a tendency to spend more time singing about hostage crises than inner pain, Baker plays a whole pawnshop’s worth of different instruments and handles all of the engineering and production chores in solo pursuit of his own brand of panoramic sound.

It’s an amalgam of loud guitars, mistreated beatboxes, catchy choruses and a reverence for classic pop song form that marks Radio Nowhere as something like the missing link between Tom Petty and Duran Duran. Fans who’ve always loved these artists, plus Neil Finn, Aimee Mann, Counting Crows and Elvis Costello, but wished that they’d turn their guitars up a little bit, will definitely notice a kindred spirit at work in Radio Nowhere.

Thankfully, Radio Nowhere was not as restricted during the interview!

Dan’s BandCampaign Episode 1 – Radio Nowhere

Californian based Radio Nowhere is not the guitar strumming singer/songwriter the term often implies. Otherwise known as Mike Baker, Radio Nowhere discusses a range of things like childhood musical enlightenment, earning a gig interpreting a cow, how being held up at gun point in Mexico can inspire a song and much more.

Regular segments “Shameless Self Promotion”, “The Fast Five” and “Rock and Goal!” feature also.
